A few firsts

Isaac has been so blasted cranky lately, that this I had to post a picture of his first smile in a long time. OK, that's not totally true, but it feels like it. We have dubbed him "mr. p.i.b" which means, Pain In Butt.

Another first is that James took the boys to Lehman's cave on Monday to see some stalactites and stalagmites for Adam's science fair project. They had a lot of fun walking through all the caves.

This is Ian's reenactment of his first talk. He was so cute I had to turn my head so he wouldn't see me chuckle. I cried a little too. James sits down with our kids and asks them what they want to say on the subject that they were given, then he draws little pictures so that they can memorize the talk by looking at the pictures. Then they are able to give a talk all by themselves without us whispering into their ears. So far it has worked really well, and he looked so cute up there with his little voice and combed hair. I wanted to squish his cheeks really fast, then have him continue.

BIRTHDAY GIRL A MONTH LATE!

There's a fear in all grandmother's that she will forget one of her precious grandchildren's birthday. Well, I haven't forgotten any birthdays (yet) but I did forget to put my sweet Emma's picture on the blog when it was her birthday. Oh, my how could a grandma do such a thing! I was looking for the last picture I put on and couldn't find my Emma; it was then I realized I didn't put the picture on the blog.
So, sweet Emma, here's your cute little face. And to try to make up for it I will post another one right after this one. I love you! grandma Gibson

Can you believe no posts for over a month??? Wow! Well, I guess I will try to break that and update you on dad's status since his surgery.

Yesterday was his knee scope; we arrived at the surgical center by 6:15am and left around 11:00 am. Ugh for me! haha Dad actually doesn't remember me in the recovery room getting all the instructions from the nurse. I handed him his glasses and he reached for them and when I thought he had them I let go.... and so did he.... LOL! Fortunately they did not land on the floor. I decided he didn't need them and I put them back in my purse.

He slept most of the day after we arrived home and didn't need any pain killer at all. I think all the stuff he had stayed in his system for that long. They gave him a shot of Demerol after the surgery. We stopped at our new Walgreens to pick up his prescription for Lortab. Later when I mentioned it to dad he said, "We did? Oh, that was Walgreen's? I thought we stopped at Taco Bell or something."

Today I went back to work so he was on his own. But he's doing pretty good getting around. The Dr. didn't give him crutches; he said he can put weight on it as tolerated. So he hobbles around when he needs to but he has taken over "my" chair! He starts physical therapy tomorrow so hopefully that will help him with recovery. He is off from work for 2 weeks at least. He'll have his stitches taken out then and if he's doing well he'll get the note from his doctor that will send him back to work.

Give him a call; I know he would love to hear from you. Now that he's cleaned the anesthesia out of his system he'll remember it too! Ü
